Wow, Monte making some big changes to the order today! He has DH Jolly batting 2nd behind Davidson, Williams 3rd, Beer in cleanup for the first time and Greene batting 6th. Greene started in the first game today and was 1-3 with a double and a walk. The musical rotation at 2nd continues! Also, Teo is in center and Hawkins is at 3rd with Cromwell out of the lineup.

Davidson, Jolly and Williams go 1-2-3 in the 1st.

Higgy gives up a tough infield single, but Davidson and Greene turn a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning!

SCORELESS AFTER ONE.

Greene walks on a full count with 2 outs. That's one thing he does really well. Also walked in the first game today. Wilkie up with 2 down.

Ugh Higgy loads the bases with one out after 3 consecutive singles. It looked like the Tigers would get out of the jam with a double play, but the umpires are reviewing the call at 1st. On review, it looks like Williams's foot came off the bag and may have missed the tag attempt. Huge call coming!

UGH! Umpires reverse the call after review. Cards lead 1-0 with corners and 2 outs. I thought the call should have stood just because the replay was not indisputable. Looked like Williams may or may not have gotten the runner's heel with his glove. Call on the field is supposed to stand in that case.

Higgy gets a fly to end the inning. If Williams had been an inch taller, it would still be tied!

Teo with a one-out single up the middle! His first hit in forever. Davidson up with Jolly on deck.

Davidson strikes out looking for the second time today. Jolly up with 2 down.

Teo picked off to end the inning after finally getting on base. Lol

Uh oh Higgy gives up a leadoff single. First leadoff base runner for Cards, and McDonald loves to play small ball.

Grounder gives Cards RISP with one out.

Higgy gets his first K for the 2nd out! RISP with 2 down.

Ugh 2-out double puts Cards up 2-0.

A single makes it 3-0. Beer throws the runner out at 2nd but not before the run scored.

Greene and Hawkins strike out, Wilkie grounds out. Tigers go 1-2-3 in 5th. Having a lot of trouble with this pitcher, striking out 7 times already.

UGH leadoff double! Into the left field corner again for the second time in 3 batters. Expect McDonald to sac bunt here.

Ugh sac bunt ends up a single. Corners with no outs. I'll be shocked if they don't get another run across here.

Strider is up in pen, but Monte is hanging with Higgy for the moment.

DOUBLE PLAY! Liner to Greene, they double up the runner at 1st. Man on 3rd with 2 down now. Big break for Tigers. Strider in from pen.

Ugh Strider walks the batter on 5 pitches with 3 wild ones. Good job by Wilkie to prevent a run.

Good grief Strider gives up a single to score another run. Higgy got the big double play, and now Strider has given up a walk and a single. He does not have good stuff today from what I've seen so far. 

Grounder ends the inning with 2 on, but Strider unable to get the out they needed.

New pitcher for Cards in the 6th. Hopefully the Tigers will have better luck against this one!

Strider gives up a 2-out single and a stolen base, but he strands the runner at 2nd with a K, book-ending the inning with strike outs. Running out of time to get something done offensively!

TIGERS TRAIL 4-0 AFTER 6.

Beer flies out. He has a double today for one of the Tigers' 3 hits but is just 1 for 11 in the series and .235 on the season!

Wharton 2-out double! RISP for Greene.

Wharton to 3rd on a wild pitch!

GREENE DELIVERS!!! 2-out single puts Tigers on the board finally. Greene is making the most of his opportunity, starting both games today. He is 2-5 with a double and 2 walks. Also made some nice plays in the field. The problem is the Tigers have not been able to find a consistently productive hitter at 2nd base between Byrd, Greene and Hawkins. They have all had moments good and bad.

TIGERS TRAIL 4-1 AT THE STRETCH.

Strider will start the 7th.

Strider gives up a one-out walk and another stolen base but strands the runner at 2nd again with another K. Second straight inning he has book-ended with K's and stranded a runner at 2nd. He did not look good at all for the first couple batters but has settled in, although he's gotta stop walking batters. Must have taken him a while to get warm on a cold and windy day.

TIGERS TRAIL 4-1 AFTER 7.

Cromwell pinches for Hawkins and grounds out.

Byrd pinches for Teo and grounds out on a full count.

Davidson strikes out for the 3rd time today. He is 0-4.

Schnell comes in from the pen with one out and gives up a bunt single.

Schnell gets a force out at 2nd for the 2nd out but then throws a wild pitch. Griffith in from pen with 2 outs and RISP.

Good grief now Griffith throws a wild pitch! Runner moves to 3rd after 2 wild pitches. I don't know if the cold and wind is affecting these pitchers, but all 3 of the Tigers' relievers have thrown wild pitches immediately after coming in from the pen.

And of course an infield single scores another run! Should be 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Instead they score a run thanks to 2 wild pitches. Tigers trail 5-1 with one on.

Griffith gives up another single. 2 on with 2 outs.

Double steal gives em 2 RISP with 2 outs. Griffith better get an out here!

Wow Monte ejected after arguing with the ump. Seems to be a lot of confusion about what he was upset about, but apparently he thought they had the count wrong at 2-1.

Griffith walks the batter on a full count to load the bases. 

Fly strands em loaded, but the Cards scored one more thanks to 2 wild pitches, and Monte Lee is in the locker room. Looks like the Tigers won't get the road sweep.

TIGERS TRAIL 5-1 HEADED TO 9TH.

Jolly, Williams and Beer go 1-2-3. Beer strikes out to end the game. He had just one hit in the series, a double today. Boy, the Tigers will sure be tough to beat when Beer starts hitting like we know he can. He hasn't slumped this long in his career.

Still, if you had told Monte after a 4-game losing streak that they'd go to #11 Louisville, where they were swept 2 years ago, and win 2 of 3? He'd take that in a heartbeat! In fact, the Tigers have been swept by the Cardinals each of the last 2 years in the regular season!

Tigers are 18-6 and 5-4 in the ACC.
