5-Star Clemson DE Commit Xavier Thomas
****Henry to Announce Live on ESPNU
Clemson’s last defensive line prospect left on the big board
is also one of the Tigers’ biggest wants on their early Christmas list for the
season. The Tigers are waiting to hear from
Charlotte native K.J. Henry on Wednesday to announce his college of choice from
West Forsyth High School.
Henry will make is announcement live on ESPNU at 4:20, choosing
from a list that includes the Defending National Champs along with South
Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Virginia Tech.
The strongest competition, from our gathered intel, is between the
Tigers and Hokies.
Clemson has a long relationship with Henry, and Dabo was just in home with him to give his last pitch for K.J. to join the Tigers. Stay tuned! We will be covering the early signing period in depth as the Tigers await the announcements of Henry and fellow 2018 prospect Cade Mays on Wednesday.
****Mays to Commit Live on EPSNU
5-Star OL Cade Mays, the lone target on the Tigers’ 2018 offensive
line board, is all set to announce between 1:30 and 2:30 live on ESPNU,
choosing between Clemson and UGA.
Mays recently released a final 3 of Clemson, Georgia and
Ohio State, omitting Tennessee, to which he was previously committed and a
legacy recruit. Even after a late
overture by newly hired Tennessee Coach Jeremy Pruitt, the Knoxville native
stayed the course, and it’s truly a 50-50 battle going into this signing
day. Clemson and Georgia have both done
great work in getting one of the nation’s premier tackles on campus and
thinking he can fit in at either school.
Clemson has a depth chart that sets up perfect for the young
mauler to step into the shoes of another high school All-American and now college
All-American, Mitch Hyatt, as he more than likely departs for the NFL after a
stellar career in Tiger Town.
Stay tuned, as we will be closely monitoring and posting updates
all day Wednesday on the Valley Forum.
****Dixon to Announce on Tuesday Night
Clemson has been waiting to fill the RB spot in the class
since it disbursed several late-summer offers following the courtship and recruitment
of Zamir White. The Tigers lost the Tar
Heel State RB to the Dawgs of Georgia and subsequently went back to the board,
offering a few top-tier backs they had continued to recruit.
One of those was Butler County, GA star Lyn-J Dixon, an all-purpose
back that Clemson covets in its multi-set offense.
Dixon, who has been on campus numerous times, was at one
time a Tennessee commit. He opened his recruitment back up and has the Tigers
and Cowboys of Oklahoma State in his final two. Dixon will announce tonight and
sign tomorrow, Wednesday.
Dixon is fresh off an official visit to Oklahoma State but
has been trending Clemson Orange for quite some time now. We will see if Mike
Gundy and the Oklahoma State staff had any luck flipping him over the
weekend.
I tend to believe the staff’s long-standing relationship
with Dixon at Clemson will overcome the late push from the Big 12, and I expect
Clemson’s 2018 class to expand at 8:45 pm on Tuesday when Dixon makes his
announcement. Be sure to check The Valley Forum at tat time for good new!
****UPDATE: Dixon decided to wait and announce on Wednesday at 2:00.
