****2019 Clemson Recruiting Class Receives Commitment #1
Clemson commenced its 2019 class with a bang Tuesday night, as the Tigers received their first commitment from 4-star safety Joseph Charleston, a big-time prospect who was recruited by former Grayson High School head coach and current Clemson Safeties Coach Mickey Conn. The Metro Atlanta area has been a hot bed of defensive backs for the Tigers over the past three recruiting cycles, and you can see it materialize on the field with true freshman A.J. Terrell getting a lot of playing time this year as a true freshman.
Charleston is a rangy and athletic safety who fits the Brent Venables prototype, such as Isaiah Simmons and former Clemson safety Jayron Kearse. Venables and the Tigers love the tall, rangy, ball-hawking attributes that Charleston brings with his long wingspan.

****2020 NC WR Visits for Wake Forest Game
The Wake Forest visitor list was a smaller than usual, but it didn’t lack for star power. There were 2019 and 2020 recruits present that are going to be top-tier prospects in the upcoming cycles. One of the headliners was 2020 North Carolina wide receiver Mike Wyman. The 6’4, 200-pound wideout from the Tar Heel State is blowing up in rather rapid fashion with college staffs all over the ACC and SEC footprint. Wyman has received interest from schools like Alabama, North Carolina, Arkansas and Duke, with the Defending National Champs now in the mix as well.
Just recently, we had the opportunity to send Mike 5 questions, and he got back to us to discus his recent trip to Tiger Town to see the Tigers and Demon Deacons.
CUTigers: How was your recent visit to Clemson for the Wake Forest game?
MW: The visit was a great experience. I appreciate how the staff made me and my mom feel welcome.
CUTigers: What coaches are you talking to at Clemson, and what are they telling you?
MW: I mostly speak with Coach Caldwell. He is my area recruiter. I met Coach Scott on the field for the first time. The first coach I met was coach mike Reed.
CUTigers: What is it about Clemson that intrigues you the most?
MW: It would be the facilities, the coaches, and they talk a lot about academics.
CUTigers: What about the visit was the most memorable to you?
MW: Learning their information about the math and science majors.
CUTigers: What kind of wide receiver play have you seen on your visit’s? who are some of your favorite players in college and the NFL?
MW: I have seen some great Receivers at the schools I have visited thus far. I model myself after Corey Davis in the NFL.
Stay tuned here at CUTigers.com, as we continue to follow Mike's recruitment all the way up until National Signing Day 2020!
****2019 Tar Heel State DE Names a Top 10
Clemson made the early top ten list for North Carolina defensive end Savion Jackson, arguably one of the top prospects in the state North Carolina for the 2019 class! Jackson has a veritable who’s-who list of offers from all over the Power Five, and the big-time baller from Clayton has released a top group that consist of Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Louisville, Penn State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, North Carolina, North Carolina State and the Defending Champ, Clemson. Stay tuned, folks! This player, who made eyes turn at last summer’s Dabo Swinney Camp, will be back on campus again very soon.
****Clemson in Driver’s Seat After Dixon De-Commitment from UT?
Georgia native Lyn-J Dixon, a longtime Clemson target, has withdrawn the commitment he gave to the Vols last June. He announced this on twitter shortly after Tennessee was stunned at home by a loss to SEC East foe South Carolina on Saturday. Two schools immediately move to the top of Dixon’s short list if you look at recent developments prior to the season and how these staffs have stayed true to recruiting Dixon in spite of his commitment to UT.
Look for both Alabama, which hosts Tennessee this week, and Clemson to factor in here, as Dixon has reciprocated interest in both programs with multiple visits to each campus in the past two years of his recruitment. Expect to see him at a home game in the near future and for the Clemson staff to ramp up its efforts at this point to see if the 4-star RB is just what the staff needs to fill in this star-studded 2018 class.
