Brownell told us Eli will be a game-time decision. As I told you after the game on Thursday night, he has an injured ankle and a bone bruise and hadn't practiced in 10 days. I also asked Brownell about Malik Williams's status, and he is still suffering from the concussion he suffered a couple weeks ago. Brownell said he has no idea when they will get him back. Weird situation--I've never seen someone out that long with a concussion, but I guess it's a little more severe when it happens in basketball with no helmet. Still, I can't remember seeing a player out this long with a concussion, so we'll have to keep an eye on it. Needless to say, the Tigers are pretty thin right now in the front court without both of those guys. Transfer Javan White played sparingly on Thursday night, just 5 minutes. I asked Brownell to assess what he's seen from him so far. Of course, they also lost guard A.J. Oliver, who announced his transfer on Friday. They have a little more depth in the back court than the front court right now, so that might not hurt them too much, but Brownell said he was disappointed by it and that it left them in a tough spot from a depth standpoint if anyone gets injured, and it also leaves them thin at practice, having enough guys to go against each other. Shelton Mitchell has battled knee injuries in the past, and they will certainly be hoping he can avoid them this season. I asked him after the game on Thursday how the knee felt, and he said he thinks the knee problems are behind him, saying it's the best he's felt at any point.

Finally, Brownell talked about the importance of fans showing up to support the team--even during non-conference play when football is still going on. He said that was a big reason they were 15-1 at home last season, which was a program record. I'll be here tomorrow night with live coverage and post-game interviews for you, as always, so be sure to check in tomorrow night!
