Alabama's offensive coordinator, Mike Locksley, won the award, so the Tigers just miss an unprecedented Broyles hat trick. Clemson is still the only program to win consecutive Broyles Awards. Incidentally, the last time Clemson didn't win the Broyles Award was 2015 when Venables was a runner-up to Lincoln Riley. Venables soon after whipped Riley in the Orange Bowl, and Venables won the award the following year. |
