First Palmetto Series loss for Monte and the first win for the Gamecocks in 5 years. Davidson hit his 2nd HR in as many days, 4th of the season to tie Teo for the team lead, but not much else went right for the Tigers today. I wrote before the game that I didn't feel good about freshman Justin Wrobleski starting in this environment, and I was right. I thought Hennessy or even Freshman Keyshawn Askew should have started. Askew has looked better than Wrobleski so far, but Monte wanted to give Wrobleski another chance to see what he could do. Monte told me after the game that he didn't have any second thoughts about it, but I think you can expect to see a different Sunday starter next week and maybe even a different Friday starter after the way Crawford has looked in the first 3 starts. Hall was the series MVP for the Tigers. He was 3-4 today and 5-10 in the series with a HR, 3 walks and 3 steals. I'll have post-game interviews posted shortly!  |
