Brooks Crawford will get his 3rd straight mid-week start tonight at 6:00 in this first of two meetings with UGA. Tigers are coming off a 4-0 week and have won 8 of their last 9. This is the highest ranked opponent they will have faced since they swept No.2 UNC in their first ACC series.

The Tigers have 8 players batting over .300. I believe that is the most in the Monte Lee era. And Teo (.255) leads the team with 8 HR's! He has homered in back to back games. Byrd has reached base in 16 of his last 21 at bats with a HR, 2 triples and 2 doubles.

Good grief, Sharpe, Teo and Greene go 1-2-3. Sharpe struck out looking. Tigers have gone through the lineup without a base runner. This pitcher for UGA, Elliott, came in with a 0.66 ERA in 27 innings. He would be 4-0, but he lost a game 1-0 on an unearned run. His batting average allowed is .132. Tigers have their work cut out for them!

SHARPE 2-OUT SOLO HR!!! His 3rd of season puts the Tigers on the board finally, 4-1. Too bad they weren't able to sac Davidson in last inning. That was the second hit today and the first HR Elliott has allowed all season. UGA has allowed just 22 HR's this season, and 18 of them have been solo. That explains why their record is so good! Elliott had just 2 earned runs coming into the game.

Griffith was doing fine, and Weatherly has been pretty bad for the most part. He's allowed 18 base runners with 10 walks in 8 innings this season. He does have a lot of K's, though, averaging 2 per inning. Tigers have no more margin for error down 3 in the 7th.

Monte brings in transfer righty Sheldon Reed from the pen. Kind of a confounding choice in this situation. He is a converted pitcher who threw just one inning late in the rout at SCAR until a couple weeks ago when he threw an inning against College of Charleston. He also threw an inning over the weekend in Blacksburg, when he gave up 2 hits but struck out the side.

They just ran into an outstanding pitcher and made a few mistakes defensively. Crawford has not been right all season--he hasn't made it past the 4th inning yet--and that's a tough task against a pitcher of that caliber. The UGA starter, Elliott, had allowed just 2 earned runs in 27 innings coming in, with an opposing batting average of .132. He was in the mid 90's all night and mixed in his off speed stuff really well.

GA native Davis Sharpe was the one real bright spot for the Tigers. He had 2 of their 4 hits, including his 3rd HR, and scored 2 of their 3 runs. The Tigers drop to 22-7 overall after winning 8 of their last 9 before tonight. Monte Lee started 4-0 against UGA but has lost the last 3 meetings. The Tigers have a huge home series this weekend against No.10 Louisville, who they are tied with for 2nd in the ACC, one game behind NC State. As always, I'll have live coverage right here all weekend!
