Smith was recently implicated in the case going on in New York with the FBI investigating payments to coaches and players by a sports agent. Former Clemson Merl Code has also been implicated. I don’t believe Smith has been found guilty of anything yet but had made suspicious statements according to the government witness. Smith’s contract was up for renewal on the 30th, and Clemson opted notvto renew it.
