CUTrevor 2019-05-07 14:33:27

Brooks Crawford will get the start at 6:00 tonight in a game that was added for a rain out earlier in the season. Tigers are coming off a 9-7 loss at Gardner-Webb. Weatherly and Jones will be serving the 3rd game of their 4-game suspension for being ejected at Georgia Tech after plunking a couple batters.

Ugh Sommerfeld gives up back-to-back singles to start the 7th. Huggins in from the pen with corners and no outs. I'll bet he doesn't get the first batter out. They never do out of the pen this season. Maybe 20% of the time.

CUTrevor 2019-05-07 19:06:16

I called it! Lol Passed ball ties the game at 6. I guess that wasn't on Huggins, but it's insane how EVERY time a reliever comes in from the pen this season, something bad immediately happens.

WOW! The Tigers challenge that the runner missed second base on his way to 3rd, and the ump called him out! Replay was inconclusive, so the call stands. HUGE call! Now it's man on 1st with one out instead of corners. Remember that play if the Tigers come back and win.

Greene grounds out to end the game.

TIGERS LOSE 8-7.

Yet another one-run loss! They are 3-10 in one-run and extra-inning games this season after going 16-6 in such games last season. The hitting has actually been reasonably good lately, but the pitching has been horrendous across the board. They have allowed 68 runs in the last 9 games, and that includes several mid-major opponents. The biggest difference to me is the number of walks the entire staff has been allowing game after game, but they have combined that with errors, hit batters, wild pitches and a lot of hits. If they didn't give up more than a couple walks per game, their record would look drastically different.

This is really uncharted territory for Monte Lee, at least since he's been at Clemson. If the Tigers don't figure out a way to turn this thing around, they're in danger of not making the NCAA Tournament after hosting a regional for 3 straight years. They will host The Citadel tomorrow night at 6:00. Ryan Lindley will make the start.

I'll have post-game interviews shortly.
