The game was moved from 6:30 to noon due to weather, and the Tigers finally won a one-run game! They were 0-3 in extra-inning games and 3-10 in one-run and extra-inning games before today.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the 1st when Green led off with a full count walk and Byrd drove him in with a double. Fairey continued his hot hitting with a big 2-out single to make it 2-0. Monte moved Hall out of the leadoff spot for the first time in months, and it paid off.

State answered with a run in the 3rd thanks to a leadoff single, two stolen bases and a sac fly. The Tigers would go up 3-1 in the 7th with a leadoff single by Greene, a stolen base and a big 2-out RBI single by Davidson. However, State answered in the bottom half of the inning with 2 runs to tie. Weatherly, coming off a 4-game suspension, walked his first 2 batters and Griffith came in from the pen to give up a single. All season long, the pitcher out of the pen for the Tigers has failed to retire his first batter. Griffith would then give up a run on a grounder, walk the bases loaded and then give up the tying run on a wild pitch. That is another thing that has plagued the Tigers all season long. Hennessy came in for Griffith and got a K to end the inning.

The game would remain tied until the 10th inning, when Wilkie came up with a 2-out double, Fairey singled and Hall drove in the winning run with a clutch 2-out single. Spiers then closed the books in the bottom of the 10th after giving up a leadoff walk.

The Tigers scored 3 of their 4 runs with 2 outs today. The move by Monte to drop Hall in the lineup really paid off big. Green scored twice from the leadoff spot, and Hall came up with the game-winning 2-out single in the 10th. Sharpe got a no-decision but pitched a great 5 innings, allowing just 4 hits and one run. Spiers got the win, going 3 innings with one hit and no runs.

The Tigers improve to 13-13 in the ACC, and the've won 2 of their last 3 ACC games on the road against ranked teams after losing 9 straight ACC games. The rubber match will be tomorrow at 1:00!
