Michigan one win away from winning CWS

It would be the school's second national title in baseball but first since 1962. They had not made it to Omaha since 1984 and was one of the last 4 teams to make the 64-team field, but here they are 5-0 in Omaha after beating overall No.2 Vandy 7-3 last night. Pretty good Cinderella story. Michigan had to beat overall No.1 UCLA in the Super Regional at their place and Defending Champ Oregon State at theirs in the Regional. This would be Michigan's second title in five trips to Omaha and same for Vandy. Clemson has yet to win a title after 12 trips to Omaha. FSU is 0-23!

If Michigan wins one of the next two games against Vandy, Head Coach Erik Bakich will be the 3rd former Clemson assistant under Leggett to win a national title in the last 5 years, joining Corbin and Sully. Either way, of course, a former Clemson assistant will win the title again. If it's Vandy, it will be Corbin's second, and he beat his former Clemson team the last two years at the Tigers' regional on his former field.

The Big Ten has not won a title in baseball since Ohio State in 1966.
