As I reported yesterday, the Tigers are ranked No.1 in the Preseason Coaches' Poll for the first time ever. They will also likely be No.1 in the Preseason AP Poll for the first time on August 19. In the 70 years of preseason polls, only two teams have gone wire-to-wire ranked No.1: 1999 FSU and 2004 USC. Pretty amazing that not even one of those Miami teams pulled it off! Even before the preseason rankings, it only happened twice: 1943 Notre Dame and 1945 Army. Last season, the Tigers became the first team in the history of college football as we know it to go 15-0. If they do it again, they will be just the third team ever to go wire-to-wire No.1! What a special time we're living in. |
