Tigers lead 7-3. Moore is in the game now and just made a nice hustle play to get a block on a fast break after a bad turnover by Dawes.

CHASE HUNTER FOR 3!!! Tigers are 6-14 from 3 after just 7 of 29 on Tuesday night. If they had made just one more against the Hokies, they probably win! Tigers lead by 15, biggest lead of the game.

Newman dunk at the buzzer to more than double PC up at the half!!! He has 13, Scott has 11 to lead the Tigers. Simms has yet to score yet despite the big lead! Walk-on Paul Grinde got in for a few minutes in the first half. He is a 305-pound walk-on, and the Tigers will need his big body in the front court this season.

TIGERS LEAD 43-31 AT THE HALF.

Ugh Hemenway just hurt his leg under the basket. Looked like he got elbowed in the face too, but it's his leg that is the concern. I didn't see anything bad on replay. Hopefully just a twist or light sprain.

Grinde just came in to give the Tigers 5 white guys on the court! Lol last time that happened was probably when Pres Maravich was coach.

I'll have post-game interviews in a bit!

TIGERS WIN 79-45!!!

Newman led with 16 points, Mack scored 14, Hunter and Scott 13. Tigers were 14-31 (41%) from beyond the arc after going just 13-52 in their first two games! Simms was scoreless, but he didn't play most of the second half, and the Tigers didn't need him obviously. However, it might be tough for him to score a lot this season as much as he will draw double teams, so the other players are going have to make the most of their opportunities and make open 3's like they did tonight.

I asked Brownell after the game for an update on Hemenway, and he said he didn't want to speculate, but he is going to have to get an MRI on his foot tomorrow. It could be an achilles tear. Brownell said he is really hopeful it's not because they are going to need Alex's this season.

I'll have post-game interviews with Brownell, Newman and Scott posted shortly!
