Weatherly and Strider update

We just had a Zoom interview with Sam Weatherly and Spencer Strider, who were drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds last night, and it sounds like they are both going to go pro and forego their remaining eligibility at Clemson. Weatherly had 2 years of eligibility left and will sign with the Rockies. Strider had 3 years of eligibility left and will sign with the Braves. That one really hurts! It's a shame that we didn't get to see these guys pitch for an entire season. They were both looking good, and the team was on a roll and headed for a great season. I would have liked to get Strider back with all the eligibility he has and the fact that he went in the 4th round, but he seems to be itching to go pro and start working towards his goal of making it to the majors. Remember, Strider missed the entire 2019 season after having shoulder surgery shortly before the season started.

The Tigers have a bevy of young pitchers coming back next season, including several freshmen, so they are still in good shape for the future, but they are losing a couple of good ones early that in some cases might have come back.

I'll have our interviews with Weatherly and Strider posted in a bit!
