MONTE LEE SEASON WRAP-UP INTERVIEW

We had a Zoom interview this morning with Monte Lee to wrap up the abbreviated 2020 season and to discuss the status of the baseball program, incoming freshman, the pandemic, race relations on the team, etc. He confirmed what I reported to you earlier about Weatherly and Strider both deciding to go pro and forego multiple years of eligibility. Star closer Carson Spiers also signed as an undrafted free agent, which is another big loss suffered by the pitching staff. They have a lot of experienced pitchers coming back, including a few freshmen that gained some good experience in 2020 and a couple talented incoming freshmen, but that's two weekend starters and an ace closer they're losing.

The players, of course, aren't on campus right now and aren't playing summer ball like they normally would. Monte hopes to get them back in early August. He did say, however, that the incoming freshmen have been playing quite a bit on their own during the past month.
