ACC football kicks off tonight! Gonna be fun to watch D'Eriq King make his debut for the Canes. They could be a top-10 team with him running the offense. Click the link below for this weekend's TV schedule!

As I expected, Miami is a totally different team with D'Eriq King. They beat a 1-0 UAB team 31-14, and it would have been 31-7 if the Canes hadn't fumbled a punt at their own 10 yard line early. They came close to forcing several turnovers but didn't come up with any and still won easily. King was as electric as he was at Houston--especially with his legs. He converted a couple 3rd and longs when he should have been sacked. Miami probably would have lost tonight with last year's QB, Perry, starting. Just an example of how much difference a great QB can make. Remember, they lost their last 3 games last season and were shut out by LA Tech in the bowl! King wasn't very good on the deep ball tonight, and he missed a wide open receiver in the end zone, resulting in a field goal, but it was still an impressive debut after almost a year off. He extended his FBS record to 16 straight games with a pass TD and rush TD, having already broken Tebow's record. They have a big showdown with offensive power Louisville next week!

Several good matchups this week, and two of the best games, a couple of ranked versus ranked, are at noon: Kentucky at Auburn and Louisville at Pitt. West Virginia at Oklahoma State should be a good one, and I'm looking forward to seeing if Mike Leach can win his first SEC game with Mississippi State at LSU. Both of those are at 3:30. Another 3:30 game to look out for is Army at Cincy, which is the 3rd ranked vs. ranked of the day. There are also a couple night games that should be competitive in Tennessee at SCAR and NC State at VA Tech. College GameDay is at Miami for the rivalry with FSU, but I expect the Canes to pound the Noles. Anything can happen in that rivalry, but judging the way the two teams have started the season, it should be a blowout. FSU Head Coach Mike Norvell won't even be on the sideline because he has COVID. Still, it's the best full day of action we've had so far, and with the Tigers having a bye, I'm looking forward to watching!

The Gamecocks just took an early 7-0 lead at Florida. Hope the Gators haven't been reading their press clippings all week after jumping to No.3 or are looking ahead to the game at A&M next week! The Aggies play at Bama at 3:30. We'll see if they look better on offense than they did at home against Vandy last week. Speaking of Vandy, I'd love to see them make Lsu 0-2 tonight! Big game and potential playoff eliminator between Auburn and UGA between the hedges tonight. Should be a low scoring affair with two good defenses and bad offenses.

The big game this week is No.3 Georgia at No.2 Alabama, and Nick Saban will be watching at home after testing positive for COVID on Wednesday. I expect his absence to cost Bama at least 7 points, and I now call the game a 50/50 toss up. Steve Sarkisian will act as head coach, and he has plenty of experience, including head coaching jobs at USC and Washington.

The other big game was supposed to be LSU at Florida, but that was postponed due to some positive tests at Florida. Auburn at SCAR should be a good game. I thought the Gamecocks would lose preseason, but I think they will win that one now. They played pretty well in losses to Tennessee and Florida and are coming off a blowout win at Vandy. Texas A&M at Miss State and Pitt at Miami should also be interesting.

The Big Ten begins play tonight with Illinois at Wisconsin! The top-10 Badgers were upset by Illinois last season, but I don't think we'll see a repeat of that despite the craziness of COVID. We'll get our first look at Ohio State tomorrow when they host Nebraska at noon. Good game tomorrow night for the Little Brown Jug and Michigan at Minnesota, ranked versus ranked. South Carolina at LSU tomorrow night should also be interesting, and Notre Dame goes on the road for the first time this season to play Pitt.

The Pac-12 begins play this weekend! The big one in that conference is Stanford at Oregon. It will be weird to see Autzen stadium with no fans! Obviously, the big top-4 showdown between the Tigers and Irish is the game of the week, but another big one is the Cocktail Party game between Georgia and Florida in Jacksonville. The loser is out of the playoff race! The ACC kicks off the weekend with Miami at NC State tonight.

Nice having college football to watch this late! UNC at Miami should be a good game. The Canes are favored by 3 at home. Wisconsin at Iowa should also be good, and the reeling Hokies host UVA, which looks to win the rivalry for the second straight year after losing 15 straight. Will FSU finally play a game after having 3 in a row canceled? They were supposed to travel to Duke last week, but now they host Duke at 4:00. We also have the Army/Navy game tomorrow! Rivalry game between ASU and Arizona kicks the weekend off tonight.
