The Tigers are 3-0 and beat the Hokies 8-1 yesterday thanks to Valerie Cagle's second complete game. She has yet to allow an earned run. The last game she didn't pitch, she hit a pair of 2-run HR's and saved the game on the mound. Game 2 is at noon, and they'll play game 3 right after that. Cagle gave up 4 more runs in the 3rd with 3 singles and a homer. Coach should have listened to me and pulled her after the 2nd! Poor girl's arm must be hanging. Plus you just can't give a good team that many consecutive looks at the same pitcher, no matter how good she is. Caymol came in from the pen after the homer to finish the inning. Ugh Thompson has already given up 2 runs in the top of the 1st. She gave up a leadoff single followed by a steal and another steal to make it 1-0, and then after a K swinging, she gave up a double to make it 2-0. After a walk and an infield fly, she's got 2 on with 2 outs. 11 unanswered runs by the Hokies today!
