TUESDAY DABO AND PLAYER INTERVIEWS

Dabo broke the news I was afraid of: Ngata will not play this week at South Carolina. The Collins "brothers" and Davis Allen have done a good job carrying the load in the passing game since Ross went down, but Ngata would have been a big blanket of security against the Gamecocks.

Also, LB Jake Venables decided that he will not play his final two years of eligibility at Clemson after graduating. He has been plagued by injuries the last couple years, including 8 hamstring injuries, and wants to go to go to grad school elsewhere to pursue his career. He played just 20 snaps this season and had 3 tackles: one against SC State and 2 against UConn with half a TFL. I wouldn't read anything into what this portends for Brent Venables and whether he might be looking into one of the many head coaching vacancies. His son, Tyler, obviously has a few more years with the Tigers, and Brent is the highest-paid coordinator in the nation, making more than most head coaches. I don't expect him to be leaving anytime soon.

We also spoke to the "Bruise Bothers," Skalski and Spector, today. The two senior linebackers and roommates will be playing their last Palmetto Bowl against the Gamecocks this week.
