Spencer Strider is just 2 years removed from Clemson and having a sensational MLB rookie season for the Defending Champion Braves! He's allowed 3 hits and one run in his last 12 innings, striking out 23! He has a WHIP of 0.97 and his 14 K's per 9 innings would be best in MLB if he had 19 more innings to qualify. WHIP would be 9th, ERA 13th. He's allowed just 3 HR's in 65.2 innings, and opponents are batting .168 against him! Strider should have a 4-1 record, but the Braves have blown 2 of his starts with extra-inning losses.

What's even more remarkable is that after his freshman season for the Tigers, he had Tommy John surgery and missed the next season. After just a few outings in the covid-shortened 2020 season, he entered the draft. No one though he would make it to the majors this quickly, let alone be among the top pitchers in baseball already! His teammates call him "Quadzilla" because of his lower-body strength. Lol

Strider struck out 13 in 6.2 innings last night, allowing just 3 hits, one run and one walk against the Phillies! He now leads the Braves, including All-Star Max Fried, in strikeouts. If Strider had just 17 more innings this season to qualify for player rankings, his 13.76 K's per 9 innings and .174 opponent batting average would lead the majors! His 0.99 WHIP would be 8th, and his 2.79 ERA would be 15th.

Strider currently has the second-best odds to win NL Rookie of the Year!
