The Board of Managers voted on expanding the playoff to 12 teams beginning in 2026. I'm not a fan at all, especially because it will just mean that the financial gap between the SEC and everyone else will just get wider. They will get as many as 5 or 6 teams in the playoff, while the ACC will be lucky to get 2. I also don't like the logistics of 12 teams with 4 teams having byes. 8 is a much better number. Teams 9 through 12 have no business being in the playoff anyway because they have zero chance of winning the title. It's just going to be more blowouts.
