It's an unusually early date for the annual rivalry game. Usually, it's just before Christmas! That's unfortunate for the Tigers because they are still without All-ACC junior PJ Hall and have just one game and one exhibition under their belt with several new and young players. Of course, the Gamecocks have a new head coach as well. Lamont Paris, formerly of UT Chattanooga, has taken the place of Frank Martin, who was fired after last season. Tip is at 7:00 in Columbia, and I'll have live updates right here! |

Lousy half for the Tigers. 10 turnovers and just 7 combined points for Hunter and Tyson, who combined for 42 in the opener. They are 4-9 from 3 but have to get more looks and stop the 3's on the other end. Tigers are a dreadful 6-19 from inside the arc. Hall played just 9 minutes, which is fine. Don't want to push him too hard this early. |

That's the ball game. Not a bad effort by the Tigers. Tough road game for 2nd game of season. This game is normally played at the end of December. Too many turnovers in the first half, but they settled down and did a nice job overcoming a 9-point halftime deficit on the road to tie the game with seconds left. Hall scored 15 points in just 22 minutes, basically half a game. Tigers would have won this game if it were at home or a few weeks later with a chance to gel as a team. I like this team if they stay healthy! TIGERS LOSE 60-58. I'll have Brownell's post-game interview in a bit! |
