The Tigers are coming off their first loss in ACC play at 7-1 but remain alone in 1st place atop the standings. They beat the Hokies in Blacksburg a couple weeks ago, but the Hokies didn't have one of their best players, Hunter Cattoor. He returned from his elbow injury at UVA the other night in the Hokies' close loss to the Hoos. I expect him to be a big factor tonight. Meanwhile, Chase Hunter missed the game at Wake with a foot injury and will be a game time decision. The Tigers scored more than enough to win without him but gave up too many points at Wake. Redshirt freshman Josh Beadle will start again at point if Hunter cannot play.

Not quite the sellout crowd we had against Duke last week but still an excellent turnout with NFL playoffs going on. Very few empty seats.

Tigers must find a way to win this one at home. The magical play from the bench and taking care of the ball. Being patient and not getting into a run and shoot game with VT. Brownell must find something magical in that locker room that we haven't seen yet, if they expect to win this game. This very well could come from coaching and officiating. It very well make take Brownell, getting a technical foul called on him. Something that we should have seen as horrible as the officiating was at Wake forest on Wednesday night.

Tigers find a way to pull out the victory. Not sure thar was the shot Virginia Tech wanted at the end but will take it. Tigers move to 8-1 in conference play. Defense was the key coming down the stretch and what else can you say about Hunter Tyson. If the excitement wasnt enough, lets give a shout out to the kid who won 10,000 tonight with the 1 in a million putt. Someone get that kid a PGA Tour Card. If you can putt on a basketball court the length of the basketball court and make it, give that kid a real set of clubs and a actual green to read and watch what happens. The fact that he did in front of a almost packed house, he definately earned at least a look!

TOGERS WIN 51-50!!!

What a game! It was often an ugly, defensive slug fest, but Tyson hit the game-winning 3 after a perfectly drawn up play by Brownell at the timeout! This is a very good VT team. They were I think 11-1 before Cattoor got hurt, and they had him back tonight. Impressive that the Tigers were able to beat them minus two starters, including point guard Chase Hunter! The Tigers were just 3-17 from 3 in their last home win over Duke and 3-18 tonight, but they are still finding other ways to win. They have won 14 straight at home and are 8-1 in the ACC, 1st place in the standings. By the way, Hunter was in a walking boot tonight, and Brownell didn't sound optimistic that he would be playing soon. He'll probably miss at least the next 2 or 3 games, which will make those tough to win, just like tonight. The Tigers probably would have started 13-0 in the ACC if Hunter hadn't gone down. Let alone Hemenway! Huge home game against Miami 2 weeks from today.
