The last time these two teams met, Clemson came away with an 11-2 victory back on April 12, 2022. The Tigers will go with Tristan Smith on the mound. This is his first start as the starter. This will be the first of two games this week at Flour Field in Greenville SC. The Tigers today are the visitors.

Cannearella with the fly ball. Tigers with 2 outs and runners still at first and second in the top of the first. Blackwell is now batting for the TIgers. Strikeout. USC Upstate escapes the first inning. Tigers get 2 hits but no damage is done. USC Upstate coming to bat.

Just like USC upstate, the Tigers get one pitch and one out. Daniel Gernon with the shot too short, easy play for out nu mber two. Three pitches for Tristan Smith and two outs. Hamilton goes down one,two, three. We move to the 2nd. Tigers coming to bat, we are scoreless!

In the top of the 2nd the TIgers will send Will Taylor to the plate to start the inning.

Taylor is batting .286 with 4 RBI'S on the season so far. Taylor with the bomb. First homerun of the year for TAaylor. 3-1 pitch and he got all of it. Tigers strike first.

Chad Ferry with the bunt. Bakich pulling no punches early. Swing and a miss, one out. Bertram is now at bat for the TIgers. Basehit, again TIgers with runners on first and second with one out. Back to back innings with runners on first and second with the top of the order at the plate

Bases loaded as Ingle draws a walk. Caden Grice is now at the plate. Ripped a basehit in the top of the first inning to right center field. Looking for another multi-hit game. Tigers with an opportunity to blow this game open. WOW!, what a catch by the 2nd baseman for USC Upstate for the 2nd out of the inning.

Blake Wright is now batting for the Tigers. Bases loaded with a 3-0 count. TIgers get another run on a walk to Wright. Showed a lot of patience with that at bat. Cannarella at the plate. Bases loaded with two-outs. 12 plate appearances with 5 hits so far for the TIgers. USC Upstate gets out of the inning with no more damage. We move to the bottom of the 2nd. WIll Taylor bomb and a bases loaded walk gives the Tigers the lead. We move to the bottom of the 2nd.

Rocco Reid now on to pitch for the TIgers. Two pitches in and Sullivan with the ground ball up the middle, one out. Strikeout for out number 2. Rabon at the plate for USC Upstate. Tigers with another one,two ,three inning in the bottom of the 2nd. We move to the top of the 3rd.

The Spartans bring on Matthieu Curtis to pitch in the top of the 3rd. Blackwell at the plate for the Tigers. Blackwell with the infield hit and the throw was off (E-4) and Blackwell hustled to 2nd base. Taylor now up to bat for the Tigers who hit a bomb in his last as bat. Taylor draws a walk. Ferry now at the plate. 

Ferry with the bunt single in his last at bat, after the Taylor bomb. Runners on first and second again with no outs. Ferry moves the runners over to 2nd and 3rd. One out for the TIgers. Jarrell now up for the Tigers. Struckout in his first at bat and for the second time today he goes down on a strikeout. Two outs runners on 2nd and 3rd. Bertram at bat for the TIgers. USC Upstate escapes again. Tigers leave runners in scoring position again. We move to the bottom of the 3rd.

Caruso leads off for USC Upstate in the bottom of the 3rd. Down goes Caruso on a strikeout. Reid is looking good so far. Tilson with the grounder to Blackwell, out number two on the inning. Rhinehart gets a infield hit and outran the throw by Grice. USC Upstate has their first base runner in the afternoon. Grob now at the plate for the Spartans. Grob with the single and now the Spartans have runners on first and third with two outs.Wright throws across the diamond and Grice comes up with the throw. Tigers escape the inning. We move to the top of the 4th

Blake Wright with the play of the day so far. 

Ingle with the grounder to 2nd for the first out in the top of the 4th. Grice is now at the plate. Still looking for another multi-hit game. Grice with the grounder to third for the 2nd out in the inning. Wright one pitch and a one, two, three inning in the top of the fourth, We move to the bottom of the fourth.

That is the first time today the Tigers failed to put runners on base and in scoring position.

Troy Hamilton leads off the bottom of the fourth for the Spartans with a single. That is the 3rd hit for the Spartans today. Sullivan draws a walk and now the Spartans have runners on first and second with no outs. Sherrod at the plate now for USC Upstate. Sherrod draws a walk and now the Spartans have the bases loaded with no outs.

Rabun is now at the plate for the Spartans. Bases loaded with no outs. Bellinger out to the mound to talk to the Tigers pitcher and settle him down. Have to think though the TIgers missed opportunities with leaving runners in scoring position in the first three innings.

Rabun with the base hit by Grice and just like that, we are tied 2-2. Runners at second and third still no outs and Curuso is at the plate.

Curuso with a double and the Spartans now lead the Tigers 4-2. Bakich will now go to the bullpen for the Tigers 4th pitcher on the day. 

Ethan Darden is the 4th pitcher on the day for the TIgers. The Spartans have a runner on 2nd and no outs. After giving up 2 hits in the first 3 innings, the Tigers have given up 5 straight hits and 4 runs

Tilson at the plate for the Spartans. Grounded to first in his first at bat. Tilson grounder at 3rd and the TIgers finally have out number one. 

Rinehart at the plate for the Spartans. Grice backhands the grounder for out number two in the inning. Runner advances to third. Grob at the plate now for the Spartans. Grob is being looked at by the athletic trainer after he fouled a ball off his leg. Great shoutout for the athletic trainers. They have a tough job. especially when you know these athletes dont ever want to come out of the game.

Easton Cullison came in to pinch hit for the injured Grob who had two strikes on him. Darden gets the strikeout and finally out of the inning. We move to the top of the 5th but the Spartans did some damage.

Canneralla with the hot shot. Great play by the short stop for out number one in the inning. Caruso with 7 consecutive groundouts for out number two. Will Taylor at the plate. Curuso has sat down 8 consecutive batters and another one two three inning for the Spartans. We move to the bottom of the 5th

Darden is in some trouble here with a passed ball and a runner on 2nd. I lost audio for a few minutes, I do apologize. There is one out but the Spartans have a runner on third. Sullivan at the plate for the Spartans. Two outs for the TIgers, really need to get out of the inning without giving up anymore runs. Sherrod at the plate for the Spartans. Strikeout!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tigers escape without giving up any runs. We move to the top of the 6th.

Ferry, Gerald and Bertram due up for the TIgers in the top of the 6th.

Ferry drives the ball into the left field corner and the Tigers have a lead off double. Gerald at the plate. Struck out on 6 pitches in his two plate appearances so far today. Gerald with a shot off the wall, Ferry had to hold to make sure the ball wasn't caught. Runners at second and third with no outs and Bertram at the plate. Bertram with the shot to third. Run Scores but get the runner at 2nd going to third. One out with a runner on first for the Tigers as Ingle comes to the plate

Ingle with the single that moves  Bertram to 2nd  with Grice at the plate. Another hit for the Tigers who have now loaded the bases with one out here in the top of the 6th inning. The Spartans are having a meeting at the mound. Wright with the line drive out and the Spartans were able to double up the TIgers and get out of the inning. Tigers get one run back. We move to the bottom of the 6th,

Wright with the nice catch for the first out in the inning. Caruso at the plate for the Spartans. Darden is in his 3rd inning of pitching. The longest outing so far for Tiger pitching. Darden has issued his first walk today. Tilson at the plate for USC Upstate. Wright with the out at second, runner at first is safe. Rinehart at the plate for USC Upstate. The Tigers get out of the inning. No runs, and no hits. We move to the top of the 7th.

Cannaralla, Blackwell and Taylor will be up for the Tigers to start the 7th inning.

Cannarella is 0-3 so far today. Hit the ball hard in his last at bat, great defensive play by the Spartans. Cannarella finally gets a hit as the ball drops into centerfield. He has a hit now in all 8 games. Cannarella may have just got picked off. If that is the case, that would be a huge out. 

The play is under review. The call is safe. 

Blackwell back in the box. Cannarella steals second. His 6th stolen base on the season. Tigers have a runner in scoring position. 

Blackwell has 9 RBIs on the season. That leads the team so far this season and it seems Cannarella is just asking to get picked off with another close play at second base. Full count on Blackwell with Taylor on deck and Blackwell draws the walk,

A pitching change for the Spartans here in the top of the 7th. Runners on first and second with no outs. Cannarella is trying to make something happen. Noah Sullivan is on to pitch now for USC Upstate

Sullivan is listed as the DH. What this means is the rest of the game, the Spartans will not have a DH in the line-up. Will Taylor at the plate. Cannarella at 2nd, Blackwell at 1st. Deep drive to center for the first out. Taylor does his job as Cannarella moves the potential tying run to 3rd. Runners on first and third for the TIgers, Ferry at the plate

Blackwell moves up to 2nd base. HIs 9th steal out of 12 attempts on the season. A golden opportunity for the TIgers. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Check swing and that was huge. Again another inning with runners in scoring position. Jacob Jerrell at the plate for the Tigers. Sullivan gets out of the inning with a strikeout. Another missed opportunity. Tigers have left 11 runners on base. we move to the bottom of the 7th.

Johnny Swinney at the plate who is hitting in the injured Grob place. The Spartans open the bottom of the 7th with a base hit. Gernon at the plate for the Spartans. Darden is getting some work in as this is his 4th inning of work. Darden is getting relieved. Might have been on a pitch count and to come in and do the job he did, I am not so sure I wouldn't have let him finish out this 7th inning.

One has to believe that Durden was on a pitch count regardless. A RBI triple by the Spartans just scored a run. Reed Garris onto pitch and just like that one pitch and the Spartans jumped on it. Garris responds with a strikeout. Sullivan at the plate for the Spartans. A sacrifice fly scores a run for the Spartans as Sherrod is at the plate and two outs. Sherrod hits the ball off the wall and ends up with a triple. Garris finally gets out of the inning but the Spartend managed to score 2 runs on 3 hits. We move to the top of the 8th USC Upstate 6 Tigers 3

Bertram will lead off the top of the 8th for the TIgers. Strikeout by Sullivan. Ingle now at the plate. Fly ball for out number 2. Grice now at the plate. A easy one, two, three inning in the top of the 8th for the Spartans. We move to the bottom of the 8th, USC Upstate 6 and the Tigers 3.

Jackson Lindley is now on to pitch for the Tigers. This is the 4th pitcher being used today by the Tigers. Caruso at the plate for the Spartans. Lindley gets the strikeout. One out in the top of the 8th. Fly ball to Taylor for out number 2. Rinehart at the plate with a single and two groundouts. Rinehart gets the infield single. Sweeney at the plate but Riinehart gets caught stealing second. We move to the top of the 9th. USC Upstate 6 TIgers 3

Wright leads off the top of the 9th with a basehit. Cannaralla at the plate. 4 to 6 to 3 double play. Two outs in the top of the 9th. Blackwell hoping to keep the Tigers alive. Grounder to 2nd and that is your ball game. The Tigers drop to 4-4 on the season. Next up for the Tigers is the Ganecocks Friday night at DKS
