The Tigers opened the NCAA Tournament with a bang last night with their second straight walk-off win and 25th comeback win of the season. Freshman and All-ACC First Teamer Aidan Knaak will get the start on the mound for the Tigers today against Coastal, which upset SEC Semifinalist Vandy yesterday 13-3. Vandy was eliminated today by scrappy High Point in walk-off fashion!

First pitch is at 5:00, and Chris and I will have live coverage right here!

These two teams were supposed to play twice this season and the weather had other plans although the 2nd scheduled game it didn't rain. I look for this to be a highly intense ballgame. Coastal Carolina coach Gary Gilmore is in his final season as the head man of the Chanticleers

The one thing Bakich alluded to last night, were the Tigers leaving runners on base. The Tigers did scratch out a run but with runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs, you get the feeling that those runners left on base will become a premium as this game continues.

WOW Hinderleider scoops the ball with his glove to get the out at 2nd, and then the runner tried to steal 2nd, but Purify ran him down to end the inning. What a crazy inning! Coastal would have had runners at the corners. Tigers get momentum back! That was a ballsy play by Hinderleider after Knaak tried the exact same thing unsuccessfully.

This is fixing to be a interesting review. The Tigers turned a great play at 2nd and Coastal was going to send the runner from 1st to 2nd because no one was covering 2nd and a heads up play by Purify got the apparent 3rd out but after he applied the tag the ball came loose out of his glove. The runner at 3rd didn't score because of the 3rd out tag but the play/call is under review.

That home run hit by Coastal Carolina to tie this game rivaled the ball Seth Beer hit in Athens a few years ago and definitely the one JD Drew hit in Greenville SC at the old Greenville Braves Stadium in Mauldin in the ACC TOURNAMENT. That ball JD Drew hit still hasn't landed and neither has Beers and this one is still flying as well. As Crash Davis said anything hit that far ought to have a stewardess on it, well that one needs 2 stewardess on it!

I said this last year and I am going to say it this year. It may not be IOWA and it may not have the ghost in the movie FIELD OF DREAMS but right now that is the setting in Clemson SC here at DKS stadium. The crowd is electric, no one is standing and regardless of the finish, you may not have a dad and son throwing on the field when this is over but however this game plays out, the ending will be just as dramatic!

TIGERS WIN 4-3!!!

The Tigers have only scored 8 runs in 2 games this weekend with no HR's after a program-record 14 straight games with a HR, but they've found ways to win with good pitching and defense! Theywill play the winner of Coastal/High Point tomorrow at 6:00. They just need to win one of the next two to advance to the Super Regional.
