Ironically, they are the first team out as it sits right now. If you're asking why the No.12 team would not make the 12-team playoff, it's because the Big 12 conference champion (in this case, they are projecting Arizona State) automatically gets in the field, regardless of ranking. ASU is ranked behind the Tigers at No.16, but they would take a spot as the Big 12 champ. Bama is ranked right behind Clemson at No.13. Ironic that the two programs that dominated the 4-team era are the first two out! The Tigers are in great shape right now, though. Hopefully the Canes will lose at Cuse this week, and the Tigers can win the ACC and a first round bye, but even if that doesn't happen, there is a strong probability that the Tigers would make the playoff at 10-2 under a number of different scenarios. Just beat the chickens! |
