Starting Lineups

Leading off the top of the 1st inning for the Blue Devils Aminah Vega

Vega goes down on strikes and this is the start that Basinger was looking for.

Ana Gold at the plate for Duke

Gold goes down on strikes and just like that Basinger has set the first two batters down for the Blue Devils

Kairi Rodriguez at the plate

Rodriguez pops it up and the short stop Marian Collins hauls it in for the 3rd out in the inning

Leading off the bottom of the 1st for the Lady Tigers Alex Brown

Brown with the fly ball to center field and D'Auna Jennings hauls it in for the first out in the inning

Maddie Moore at the plate

Moore strikes out swinging and just like that, Cassidy Curd is matching Basinger pitch for pitch and out for out

Julia Knowler at the plate

Knowler goes down on strikes and its a quick 1,2 ,3 inning for the Blue Devils

Leading off the top of the 2nd for Duke, Amiah Burgess

Burgess with the shot back up the middle and Basinger couldn't handle it and a leadoff single will bring Thessa Malau'ulu to the plate.

Malau'ulu lays down the bunt and the call is safe and under review. As it stands right now, the Blue Devils have runners on first and second with no outs pending review

The call on the field is overturned and it was a close play and now the Blue Devils have a runner in scoring position with one out and that brings KK Mathis to the plate.

Mathis with a shot back at Basinger who this time handles the grounder and keeps the runner at 2nd for the Blue Devils to get the 2nd out in the inning. That will bring Brooklinn Thomas to the plate

Thomas with the grounder to Alex Brown who throws across the infield to get our of the inning and keep the Blue Devils off the scoreboard.

Leading off the bottom of the 2nd for the Tigers Macey Cintron

Cintron with the single into center field and the Tigers have their first hit of the night. That will bring Sam Minish to the plate.

Minish goes down on strikes and she absolutely knew it too. That will bring Aby Vieira to the plate

A pass ball and the Tigers now have a runner in scoring position. Pinch runner for Cintron, Kennedy Arail

Vieira with the bloop single into center field and the Tigers now have runners on first and third with one out. That will bring Ava Wilson to the plate.

Vieira steals second and now the Tigers have runners on second and third with one out

Wilson goes down swinging for the 2nd out in the inning and that brings Marian Collins to the plate.

Collins with the bases clearing  2- RBI double over the head of the left fielder and the Tigers draw first blood here in the bottom of the 2nd. That brings Brockenbrough to the plate

Brockenbrough draws a walk in a great at bat. That will bring Brown to the plate

Passed ball moves runners to 2nd and 3rd. 

Brown with a single into center field and that will; bring home Collins and Brockenbrough bringing Moore to the plate.

Brown steals second and once again the Tigers have a runner in scoring position.

Moore goes down on strikes, but not before the Tigers score 4 runs on 4 hits.

Leading off the top of the 3rd for the Blue Devils, Jada Baker

Baker with the infield single on a throwing error by Collins bringing D'Auna Jennings to the plate

Jennings flies out to Minish for the first out in the inning bringing Vega to the plate

Vega hits a grounder to Maddie Moore who tried to turn the double play. The call at first is safe and is under review. There are 2 outs and pending review may or may not allow the Tigers to get out of the inning.

It is a bang bang play at first and I have stated several times that the call doesn't always go to the runner. It is a judgement call even under review. The call stands, the runner safe bringing Gold to the plate

Gold with the popup to first baseman Julia Knowler and that will end the top of the 3rd for the Blue Devils.

Leading off the bottom of the 3rd for the Tigers, Knowler

Knowler with the popup in the infield for the first out in the inning and that will bring Cintron to the plate

Cintron with the single into right field and that will bring Minish to the plate.

Minish draws a walk and the Tigers have runners on first and second and that brings Vieira to the plate

Vieira with the grounder back to the pitcher who throws the ball away and that scores Cintron on the error. Runners are on 2nd and 3rd bringing Wilson to the plate

Pitching change for Duke Drogemuller is now on to pitch for Duke ending the night for Cassidy Curd

Wilson lays down a  bunt and another throwing error by Duke scores Minish and Vieira and that brings Collins to the plate

Collins with the drive into center field to the wall with the stand up double that score Wilson and that will bring Brockenbrough to the plate.

Brockenbrough goes down on strikes for the 2nd out in the inning. That will bring Brown to the plate

Brown with the grounder to the third baseman for the 3rd out in the inning. The Tigers get 4 more runs on 2 errors.

Leading off the top of the 4th for Duke, Rodriguez

Rodriguez leads off the top of the 4th with a home run and Duke is on the board. That will bring Burgess to the plate

Burgess with the homerun and that is back to back homeruns for the Blue Devils. That will bring Rittman out to the mound for a conversation and it was a quick one at that. That brings Malau'ulu to the plate

Malau'ulu draws a walk and the ire of the Clemson crowd wanting a strike 3. That brings Mathis to the plate.

Mathis with the grounder to Collins and the throw over to first for the 1st out in the inning and that will bring Thomas to the plate.

Thomas goes down on strikes and a great pitch by Basinger to lock her at the knees. That will bring Baker to the plate

Baker hits the ball deep off the wall in center field and a RBI triple. That will bring Jennings to the plate and all of a sudden McWhorter stadium has got somewhat quiet

Jennings with the infield grounder to Moore who hustles but Jennings hustles down the first base line and is safe. That will bring Vega to the plate.

Vega back to Basinger for the third out in the inning but the Blue Devils cut the lead in half. We have played 3 and 1/2. We move to the bottom of the 4th,

Leading off the bottom of the 4th for the Tigers, Moore

Moore starts off the bottom of the 4th with a single into center field and that will bring Knowler to the plate

Knowler with he grounder to the first baseman for the 1st out in the inning bringing Cintron to the plate.

Cintron with the grounder to shortstop and once again a Duke infielder is unable to handle the ball and the Tigers have runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. That will bring Minish to the plate

Minish with the RbI double to left center field and with runners on 1st and 2nd that will bring Vieira to the plate

Vieira with the grounder to the short stop and the throw home was mishandled and the Tigers capitalize and Vieira advances to 2nd on the throwing error and that will bring Wilson to the plate.

Wilson with the 2 RBI single into center field and this is what you want after a top of the 4th struggle. Coming to the plate for the Tigers, Collins as Duke looks to make another pitching change

Collins draws a walk and that will bring Brockenbrough to the plate

Brockenbrough with the grounder to the first baseman for the 2nd out in the inning and that will bring Brown to the plate

Brown with the popup to the 3rd baseman but the Tigers responded with 4 more runs. We move to the top of the 5th.

The Tigers shut down Duke in the top of the 5th with a great diving catch by Ava Wilson and a popup in foul territory against the wall by Sam Minish.
