Starting Lineups

The Lady Tigers have dropped 3 out of their last 4 games after winning 15 straight games. Duke took 2 of 3 from the Tigers last weekend and North Carolina has split the first two games this weekend. Join me here for game 3 and again chime in and let me know where you are tuning in from.

Leading off the top of the 1st for the Tarheels Alex Coleman

Coleman with the bunt single to start off the game for the Tarheels. That will bring Roberts to the plate

Roberts lays down the sacrifice bunt and the Tarheels waste no time going after first pitch bunts. That will bring Rodriguez to the plate

Rodriguez with the shot back to Basinger who catches the lead runner in a run down between 2nd and 3rd for the 2nd out in the inning and that will bring Thompson to the plate

Thompson with the Deep drive to the center field wall and Brockenbrough hauls it in for the 3rd out in the inning.

Leading off the bottom of the 1st for the Tigers, Alex Brown

Brown who is a transfer from North Carolina, had a great series 2 years ago against her former team.

Brown draws a leadoff walk and that brings hot hitting Maddie Moore to the plate.

Moore with the fly ball to center field for the first out in the inning. The wind is swirling all over the place and I am not sure on any other given days that the two deep balls we have seen wouldn't have been home runs. At the plate, Julia Knowler

Knowler with the high popup and again the wind kept that ball in the infield for the 2nd out and that brings Macey Cintron to the plate

Cintron with a drive into left field and that in my opinion is what it is going to take today to score. The long ball will not get it today. That brings Sam Minish to the plate

Minish We have a lightning delay. The sirens just went off.

While we are in a delay, just to give you a idea of the wind here at McWhorter stadium, the right field flag is blowing straight towards the baseball stadium and the flags in center field are blowing straight in. The lightning strike is in Pendleton.

Notre Dame leads the Tigers in baseball 5-0 in the top of the 4th.

We resume with Sam Minish at the plate

Minish Minish draws the walk and the bases are loaded for Aby Vieira

Vieira fouls off a ball and the catcher was called for catchers interference and that will bring in a run for the Tigers and that brings Kylie Johnson to the plate

Johnson draws a bases loaded walk and that brings in another run for the Tigers. At the plate Marian Collins

Collins with the drive right to the right fielder but the Tigers score 2.

Leading off the top of the 2nd for the Tarheels,  Myrtle

Myrtle leads off the top of the 2nd for North Carolina with a home run which goes to show you, when it comes to the wind and the weather, I don't know anything. At the plate for the Tarheels, Pierce

Pierce with the popup to Johnson for the first out in the inning and that brings Blackwell to the plate.

Blackwell fly ball to right field and Minish hauls it in for the 2nd out in the inning bringing Barbee to the plate.

Barbee draws a walk and that brings Jackson to the plate.

Jackson draws another walk and Basinger shows her disgust as Coleman comes to the plate. Rittman makes a visit to talk to Basinger

Coleman with the line drive to Maddie Moore and the Tigers get out of the inning.

Leading off the bottom of the 2nd for the Tigers, J. Brockenbrough

Brockenbrough draws a walk and that brings Alex Brown to the plate as we have a pitching change for North Carolina

The crew in right field who watches the game from beyond the fence have turned on the bubbles machine and bubbles have now covered McWhoter Stadium. It adds to the experience here at McWhorter stadium in my opinion and honestly the kids that are here are loving it

Brown with the bunt and hustle down the first base line and collides with the first basemans glove and the ball comes loose. Brockenbrough advances to third as the first baseman for North Carolina is being attended to. The umpire has mentioned now that the bubbles need to be shut down but the thing is, its from outside the stadium. There is really nothing that can be done. Runners are now on 1st and 3rd and Moore at the plate

Brown steals 2nd and runners are now on 2nd and 3rd

Moore with the single into centerfield and Brown holds up at 3rd bringing Knowler to the plate.

Moore steals 2nd and again the Tigers have runners on 2nd and 3rd

Knowler with the 2-run RBI double and the Tigers have blowed this game open. That will bring a conversation and another pitching change for the Tarheels. That will bring Cintron to the plate.

Cintron draws a walk and that brings Minish to the plate

Minish walks bringing Vieira to the plate

Wild Pitch and the runners move up to 2nd and 3rd.

Vieira with the bases clearing double and that will bring Johnson to the plate.

Johnson strikes out but not before the Tigers score 5 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Leading off the top of the 3rd for North Carolina, Roberts

Roberts grounder to Collins for the first tout in the inninig

Rodriguez at the plate

Rodriguez with the single into left field and that will bring Thompson to the plate.

Thompson with the fly ball to center field for the 2nd out in the inning and that brings Myrtle to the plate

Myrtle with the Rib double and that will bring Pierce to the plate. 

Pierce goes down on strikes and we have completed 2 1/2. We move to the top of the 3rd.

Leading off the bottom of the 3rd for the Tigers, J. Brockenbrough

Brockenbrough with the single into center field and that brings Brown to the plate

Brown pops it up on the bunt and a great play by the catcher and that in turns gets a double play. That brings Moore to the plate

Moore with the fly ball to center field and that quickly ends the bottom of the 3rd for the Tigers

Leading off the top of the 4th for North Carolina, Blackwell

Blackwell with the fly ball into left field for the first out in the inning and that brings Barbee to the plate

Barbee flies out to Minish and that brings Jackson to the plate

Jackson draws a walk and that brings Coleman to the plate

Coleman with the grounder to Collins and its a 1,2,3 inning for the Tigers.

Leading off the bottom of the 4th for the Tigers, Knowler

Knowler strikes out and that brings Cintron to the plate

Cintron with the stand up double off the wall in left center field and that brings Minish to the plate

Minish with the bases clearing single and the play at the plate is under review. the initial call is safe.

It is a bang bang play and the call is overturned and that brings Vieira to the plate

Vieira with the single turned into a double off the error by the short stop for North Carolina and the Tigers have runners on 1st and 3rd bringing Johnson to the plate

Minish scores on a wild Pitch as Vieira moves up to third

Johnson draws a walk and the Tigers have done the most damage today when they have had runners on first and third with 2 outs. That brings Collins to the plate

Rittman had has the aggressive approach today. Anytime runners have been on first and third, he has had the runner at first steal 2nd

Collins draws a walk and the bases are loaded for Brockenbrough

Brockenbrough with the grounder to the 2nd baseman and we have played 4.

Leading off the top of the 5th for North Carolina, Roberts

Roberts with the grounder to Collins for the first out in the inning. That will bring Rodriguez to the plate

Rodriguez with the popup off the handle of the bat and Collins records the 2nd out of the inning bringing Thompson to the plate for North Carolina

Thompson goes down on strike and that is a 1,2,3 inning for the Tigers.

Leading off the bottom of the 5th for the Tigers, Brown

Brown with the shot to right field and a great play by Coleman on the dive for the first out in the inning bringing Moore to the plate

Moore with the single into center field and that brings Knowler to the plate

Knowler with the single in to center field and the Tigers have runners on first and second and that brings  Cintron

Cintron with the lazy fly ball to center field and that brings Minish to the plate

Minish with the grounder to first base and this might be the only inning today that the Tigers had multiple runners on and filed to score

Leading off the top of the 6th for North Carolina, Myrtle

Myrtle with the single into left field and that will bring Pierce to the plate

Pierce with the fly ball into right field and Minish hauls it in for the first out. That brings Pierce to the plate

Pierce drives the ball to the wall for a stand up double in left field and with runners on 2nd and 3rd, that brings Barbee to the plate

Barbee is hit by the first pitch she sees and that loads the bases for North Carolina and brings Jackson to the plate

Jackson goes down on strikes and the umpire was very slow in making the strike 3 call and that brings Coleman to the plate

Coleman with the fly ball into left field and Basinger gets out of the inning without giving up any runs.

Leading off the bottom of the 6th for the Tigers, Vieira

Vieira with the single just over the 2nd basemans glove into right field and that brings Johnson to the plate

Johnson draws a walk and that brings Collins to the plate and once again the Tigers have runners on first and second.

Moore walks it off and the Tigers take 2 of 3 from North carolina
