TIGERS IN THE CLEMSON REGIONAL • Clemson (44-16), the No. 1 seed, opens its Clemson Regional by playing No. 4 seed USC Upstate (36-23) on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACC Network. • The Tigers are the designated home team on Friday. • The winner of Clemson’s game plays the winner of the game between No. 2 seed West Virginia (41-14) and No. 3 seed Kentucky (29-24). • The Tigers occupy the first-base dugout for all their games in the Clemson Regional. • Clemson is the No. 11 national seed. • The winner of the Clemson Regional plays the winner of the Baton Rouge (La.) Regional from June 6-9. • Clemson is 11-2 against West Virginia, with the last meetings occurring in a three-game series at Clemson from Feb. 13-15, 2015. • The Mountaineers won two of the three games after the Tigers won the first 10 games of the series. TIGERS HOST REGIONAL FOR 19TH TIME • Clemson is hosting an NCAA regional for the 19th time in history in 2025. • Clemson last hosted a regional in 2024. From 1994 to 2011 (18 years), the Tigers hosted a regional 11 times. • Clemson joins Arkansas as the only two schools to host a regional in 2023, 2024 and 2025. CLEMSON’S NCAA TOURNEY HISTORY • The Tigers play in their 47th all-time NCAA regional when they compete in the 2025 Clemson Regional. • The 47 appearances are fifth most in NCAA history, trailing only Texas (64), Florida State (61), Miami (Fla.) (50) and Oklahoma State (50). • Clemson has made 10 super regional appearances, with its last in 2024 by winning the Clemson Regional. • The Tigers have made 12 trips to the College World Series, with their last in 2010. • Clemson has a 125-99 record (.558) in NCAA Tournament games. ACC TOURNAMENT RECAP • Clemson had a 3-1 record in the ACC Tournament at Durham, N.C., advanced to the championship game and finished in second place. • Clemson was the only team to play four games in the ACC Tournament and tied the champion, North Carolina, for the most wins. • Clemson trailed in all three of its wins. • The Tigers defeated Virginia Tech 6-1 behind Dominic Listi's homer and four RBIs on May 21. • Clemson totaled 16 hits in its 7-6 win over No. 20 NC State in the quarterfinal round on May 22. • The Tigers rallied from a 3-0 deficit, keyed by Jacob Jarrell's grand slam, to top No. 16 Georgia Tech 9-4 in the semifinal round on May 24. • No. 2 North Carolina downed Clemson 14-4 thanks in large part to an eight-run fifth inning to capture the tournament title on May 25. • Clemson hit .309 with seven doubles, a triple, five homers, a .482 slugging percentage, .399 on-base percentage and six steals. • Dominic Listi earned All-ACC Tournament honors by going 6-for-12 with a homer, double, five RBIs, four runs and a .667 on-base percentage. • Cam Cannarella earned All-ACC Tournament honors by going 7-for-16 (.438) with a homer, double, four RBIs and three runs. • Andrew Ciufo was 6-for-13 (.462) with two doubles, two RBIs, four runs, a .563 on-base percentage and two steals. • Jacob McGovern had one save and allowed one hit, no runs and one walk with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings pitched over two relief outings. McGOVERN STEALTHY FROM LEFT SIDE • Sophomore lefthander Jacob McGovern does not have overpowering "stuff," but has been effective at recording outs. • He is 3-1 with two saves, a 3.48 ERA, .157 opponents' batting average and 37 strikeouts against 11 walks in 18 outings (two starts) in 2025. • In his 16 relief outings, he has a 2.39 ERA, .144 opponents' batting average and 30 strikeouts against seven walks in 26.1 innings pitched. • In his nine appearances away from home, he has an 0.93 ERA, .123 opponents' batting average and 22 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched. • In nine ACC regular-season relief outings, he was 1-1 with one save, a 2.84 ERA and .143 opponents' batting average in 12.2 innings pitched. • He missed nearly a month during the middle of the season due to injury. • Since returning from injury, he has an 0.47 ERA, .097 opponents' batting average and 18 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched over 11 outings. • He has allowed only one of 13 inherited baserunners to score. • He pitched 3.0 perfect innings with three strikeouts to record his first career save at Pittsburgh on May 16. • He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing one hit, no runs and no walks to record the save against No. 16 Georgia Tech in the ACC Tourney on May 24. • In 6.0 innings pitched over two relief appearances in the ACC Tournament, he allowed one hit, no runs and one walk with six strikeouts. • In his career, he is 6-1 with two saves, a 2.92 ERA, .171 opponents' batting average and 57 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched. • He has made 49 appearances (two starts) in his career. |
