Starting Lineups

6-4-3 equals 2 if you know, you know and the Tigers make quick work of the Spartans in the top of the first

Wow, I am not sure where that strike call managed to catch the strike zone. With that being said, the Tigers had a runner in scoring position and filed to capitalize. 

I am sitting outside under the awning on the third base side of the press box and the wind is calm up here. If you look out at the center field flags, they are blowing straight to left field and that ball Sweeney hit was well over the right field wall. The upper levels of the jet stream is swirling, I am not sure the flags are a true indication of exactly what the wind is doing.

The Tigers are struggling with the breaking pitch. They are either late, or missing it altogether. The one thing that stands out right now, they are being aggressive at the plate which is something they seem to be lacking the last 3 1/2 weeks of the season. As a former player, what I will say is if you keep swinging eventually you will get the timing down and be able to take advantage. On the flip side, if I am the Spartans pitcher, I keep throwing that pitch until you do figure it out!

Jarren Purify is once again in scoring position. Tigers need to capitalize

After Sweeney hit the bomb last inning, TITSWORTH came back and went upstairs and set him down on a swing and a miss strikes three call.

The difference right now, the Spartans have taken advantage with runners on scoring position, the Tigers haven't. 

If the Tigers escape this inning without giving up a run, it very well could change the momentum of this game.In my opinion this game may hinge on whether Upstate capitalizes or the Tigers get out of this inning giving up nothing

The fans are on their feet as there are two outs and the bases are loaded.

At some point you knew something was going to give and that last inning very well may have woke this team up. Cam showed a lot of patience at that at bat. Let that be a lesson for you young hitters, sometimes you just have to go with the pitch and that's what Cam did and he drove it opposite field into the left field corner for a two run double

Turn of events as now it is the Spartans who are struggling at the plate with the left handed McGovern pitching

That is an easy pick off as a left-handed pitcher. All you have to do is lift your leg and hold it a split second before you make a move towards the plate. As long as you don't make that move towards the plate, it is not a BALK!

Something that needs to change over the next few innings, hitters 3 through 6 were 2 for 10 at the plate and that is the middle of this lineup. Right before Listi's single into right field the lineup was 1 for 9 at the plate

You have to think about that line drive out by Purify just now if that was a wooden bat, would that ball drop in for a base-hit. As much as I love the sound of the Aluminum bat and my son played college baseball, there were several hard hit balls just like the one Purify hit that you really could question is a wooden bat would have been a hit versus an aluminum bat being an out

Here is another opportunity for the Tigers with a runner in scoring position with 2-puts. Can the Tigers add an insurance run here.

I have to give Bakich credit as McGovern is going to get a huge round of applause as he gets ready to turn the ball over to Mahlstedt, he hasn't back down from Sweeney after that first inning bomb. I think McGovern deserves a curtain call!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going back and looking at the video, you have to think the batter was swinging hoping to make contact and that ball rose up and just happened to make contact with the bat at the heart of the swing. Regardless, the batter got all of it and then some and just like that you hope that leaving runners in scoring position and not capitalizing, doesn't come back to hurt the Tigers

Cam Cannarella took his frustration out on that ball all in one swing. If this team can get back to this consistently, look out. It is a long weekend and a lot of baseball left to be played and it is just one inning but what an inning!!!!!!!!
