It was bad timing for the Tigers to catch State on the road. The Pack had lost 5 straight and was ripe for the taking before they snapped the losing streak with a big upset road win at VA Tech last week. I thought that would give them some confidence and momentum for their home game against the Tigers, and Raleigh is always a tough place to win anyway. The game was back and forth, but the Tigers were able to grind out a big road win, giving them 5 wins in their last 6 games, losing only to UVA after a Covid pause.
Hall led the way for the Tigers, scoring 20 points, just 2 shy of his career high. The Tigers were just 3-10 from 3, but it's encouraging to know that they can grind out a win on the road without relying on 3's. They were about 50% shooting from the field and 11-13 at the free throw line. It's the Tigers' first win in Raleigh since 2015 and second straight road win for the Tigers, who are now 10-5 on the season and 2-2 in the ACC. They have a huge road game coming up on Wednesday at Notre Dame, which is near the top of the ACC standings and very tough at home.
