CLEMSON, SC - Valerie Cagle is normally the Tigers' starting pitcher in game one so she can be used in game three, but Rittman opted to go with sophomore Millie Thompson on Friday, and she pitched a complete game for the 4-1 win. Cagle was even better on Saturday, taking a no-hitter into the last inning! Unfortunately, an infield single with 2 outs left ended her bid for a no-hitter, but she still got the complete game shutout and struck out the side in the 7th, finishing with 10 K's.
The Tigers had just 5 hits themselves, but it was enough with Cagle in the circle. Just like Friday night, Pereira led off the 1st with a double. Instead of a 2-run HR like Friday, Clark doubled to put the Tigers on the board. Guimbarda made it 2-0 with a sac fly. The Tigers' only other run came in the 5th when 9-hitter Oda led off the inning with a double. Pereira and Clark walked on full count, and Guimbarda was hit by a pitch to put the Tigers up 3-0. Clark was 2-2 with a walk, an RBI and run scored. Guimbarda drove in 2 of the Tigers' 3 runs.
Sunday is Senior Day, and the Tigers will go for the sweep at noon! They are also going for their 100th win in just two and a half years as a program.
