WOW, what a performance! No one saw this coming at all. In a huge game that would likely determine who would get the 4th spot and double-bye in the ACC Tournament--not to mention the NCAA implications--the Tigers came in and hammered the Pack from start to finish. On a Saturday in Raleigh, no less! That is a tough place to play when the team is hot like they were, especially for Saturday games. Duke got slaughtered there this season, for example. But the Tigers played nearly flawlessly on both ends of the court with no let up, dominating from beginning to end. I'm sorry, but there is no way anyone can say Clemson is not an NCAA Tournament team after this. It's one thing to win big games at home or blow teams out at home, like the Tigers beating the Noles by 40 in Littlejohn a couple weeks ago. But this was on the road, against a team that ESPN has projected as an 8 seed in the NCAA, and the Tigers led by as many as 30 in the 2nd half! Galloway played out of his mind, scoring a career-high 28, and Hall scored 20.
Incidentally, both UVA and Miami lost, so the Tigers can still win their second-ever ACC regular season title if they can pull off a tough road win at UVA on Tuesday. I'm not expecting that to happen, but no one expected the Tigers to blow out State on the road either! Either way, the Tigers will wrap up at home against Notre Dame next Saturday. They should win that game, get a double-bye in the ACC Tourney and get an NCAA bid.
