CLEMSON, SC - The Tigers continued their utter dominance on Tuesday in front of a packed McWorter Stadium, clobbering the Gamecocks 10-0 in 5 innings. Cagle collected her 6th shutout of the season in the circle, the third-most in the nation, and improved to 16-1. She helped herself out at the plate, too, driving in the Tigers' first run in the 1st with a single. The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st, and Cagle extended the lead to 3-0 in the 3rd with her 12th HR of the season. She was stuck on 8 HR's for a week or two and told me after the game that she changed her approach a bit at the plate. It certainly worked because she has homered in each of the last 4 games! As they often do, the Tigers put together a big 4th inning, scoring 7 more runs in the 4th, including a 2-out bomb by Logoleo, her 6th of the season. It didn't help the Gamecocks that their head coach was ejected from the game in the 2nd inning for arguing an overturned out!
It was theĀ 14th run-rule win of the season for the Tigers, who are now 33-1 on the season! They are 4-0 all-time against the Gamecocks by a combined score of 27-2. The Tigers have won 19 straight and 28 at home. Cagle's 12 HR's are tied for 5th most in the nation. Her 0.49 ERA is 3rd best in the nation, and her .495 batting average is 8th best! There's no doubt that she's the National Player of the Year right now!
The Tigers go back on the road this weekend to face Boston College with a home top-10 showdown against FSU looming on Easter Weekend. Our post-game interviews with Rittman, Cagle and Logoleo are below!
