CLEMSON, SC - The Tigers played No.2 Wake pretty evenly on Thursday and might have even won the game, but Wake capitalized on mistakes by the Tigers' pitchers for 3 HR's, and that was the difference in the game. The Tigers also caught some bad breaks in the game, including a homer by Jarrell that was robbed by Wake's center fielder. Wake only had one more hit than the Tigers, whose pitchers struck out the Deacs 13 times. Wake came into the game with the No.7 scoring offense in the nation and 6th in HR's, and it was the homers that cost the Tigers the game. Gordon gave up 6 hits, 2 walks and 5 runs in 5 innings pitched, but Dill pitched well in relief, and Bailey had his best outing of the season. Taylor was 3-4 with a double, and Ingle was 2-4. Cannarella walked but was 0-4, which is a rarity for the freshman batting over .400.
The teams will play again on Friday and Saturday. My post-game interviews are below!
