CLEMSON, SC - Wednesday was the last dress rehearsal for the Tigers before an epic top-10 ACC showdown with No.6 FSU that begins with a doubleheader on Thursday. With Brooke McCubbin in the circle, the Tigers took care of business. She is 3rd in the Tigers' pitching rotation, yet has one of the best ERA's in the nation! That explains why the Tigers have the No.1 team ERA in the nation. McCubbin was brilliant, pitching a perfect game through the first 4.1 innings when she allowed a walk for Furman's first base runner. She had a no-hitter until a 2-out single painfully broke that up, and Rittman decided to let her take a bow and give the ball to Regan Spencer for the final out. Well, that decision cost the Tigers their 17th shutout of the season, as Spencer threw 3 straight wild pitches to score Furman's only run. Not only that, but the run was assigned to McCubbin since she gave up the hit, so it took her from the nation's No.2 ERA, hundredths ahead of Cagle, to the No.3 ERA, just behind Cagle at 0.54! It's a pretty nice luxury to have the nation's 3rd best ERA as No.3 in your rotation.
Speaking of Cagle, she doubled in 2 runs in the 1st and finished 2-3 with 3 of the Tigers' 4 RBI's. That gives her 41 on the season, which is good enough for 12! Moore doubled in the other run, scoring the speedy Clark all the way from 1st.

The Tigers will have short rest with the long-anticipated showdown with No.6 FSU beginning tomorrow with a doubleheader at 3:00! The Tigers are seeking revenge after the Noles swept them last season. The Tigers could have easily won 3 of the 4 games and were 5 outs away from winning the ACC Championship! This will be the first-ever meeting at the Mac, though, where the Tigers have won 29 straight!
