CLEMSON, SC - The Tigers wrapped up their regular season home schedule with a sweep of Pitt in a tightly contested series. The series started with a bang, as the Tigers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to score 2 in the 7th for a walk-off 3-2 win. Pitt took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd with a walk-off HR off of Cagle. The Tigers tied it in the bottom half with a 2-out single by Logoleo. Cagle would give up another run in the 5th to put Pitt back ahead 2-1. The Tigers' offense, aside from Cagle, has struggled in recent games, but the bats woke up in the nick of time down 2-1 in the 7th. Miklesh and Cagle singled to start the inning, and Jacobsen walked to load the bases with no outs. After Logoleo fouled out, Moore walked in the tying run, and Hyatt bunted in the winning run on a safety squeeze play!
Clark would break the ice on Saturday with a 2-run HR, her first in 3 weeks and 10th of the season, in the 3rd to put the Tigers up 2-0. Those would be the only runs of the game, but they were enough with Millie Thompson pitching a complete-game shutout. It was the Tigers' 18th shutout of the season.
Clark broke the ice again on Sunday, leading off the 1st with her 2nd HR in as many days. Cagle drove in another run with a single, as did Moore, who had just one hit in her previous 30 at bats. Cagle loaded the bases and gave up a 2-out single to make it 3-2 in the 2nd, but Jacobsen drove in a run in the bottom half, and Moore followed with a grand slam to put the Tigers up 8-2. Logoleo hit a 3-run walk-off HR in the 6th for the 11-2 run-rule win! Moore finally broke out of her horrendous slump by going 3-3 with a grand slam and 5 RBI's in the final home game of the regular season. Cagle improved to 22-3 on the season in the circle.
The Tigers travel to Liberty on Wednesday and then wrap up the regular season at VA Tech next weekend. Post-game interviews are below!
