CLEMSON, SC - It was another impressive showing by the Tigers! After a 90-39 rout of Newberry in the exhibition last week, the Tigers opened the season with a 78-56 win over Winthrop. Hall only played 20 minutes because of his 2 fouls in the first half, but he still scored 20 points. He was only 8-15 from the field and 2-6 from the arc, though. Hall had 2 fouls in the first half of the exhibition as well, and foul trouble was a big issue for him last season. Ian scored 16, Godfrey 12 and Hunter 10. Girard's only score was a 3-pointer. He was 1-4 from the arc and 1-5 from the field. Alex Hemenway sat out the exhibition with a hamstring, but he played 21 minutes against Winthrop, going 3-4 from the arc for 9 points. The Tigers were 13-32 (40.6%) from the arc. They were 43.5% from the field and made 11 of 12 free throws! The Tigers had 8 turnovers in the first half but only 2 in the second half.
The Tigers will take on a good UAB team next at 9:30 on Friday in Asheville. Post-game interviews are below!
