The day we all knew would come eventually has finally arrived: Nick Saban is retiring. For years, Clemson fans have pontificated on whether Dabo would leave Clemson for his alma mater when this day came, and Dabo's name will surely be bandied about in the coming days all over the internet. For about 10 years, my stance has always been that Dabo would not leave Clemson, not even for Bama. I've learned never to say never, and as much as Dabo loves his alma mater, there's always that possibility. However, I'm sticking with my story. There are just too many reasons for Dabo to stay at Clemson. He's been here for over 20 years now, and all three of his sons played for him and graduated from Clemson. He and his wife, Kathleen, have deep roots in this community now, and after the last few seasons, I think Dabo is as committed as ever to bring Clemson another national title. Furthermore, why would he want to be a footnote as an Alabama head coach, knowing he will never reach the legendary status of his childhood hero, Bear Bryant, or Nick Saban. At Clemson, Dabo is Bear Bryant. He is Nick Saban. Perhaps as his career is winding down, he will go home to Bama to finish his career, but I don't see it happening now. Again, never say never, so I'll give it a 10 percent chance Dabo takes the Alabama job. So fret not, Clemson fans, the best is yet to come!
