CLEMSON, SC - I always take spring games with a grain of salt, but the story of the day was Trent Pearman. The son of longtime assistant coach Danny Pearman and two-time South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year outplayed the two quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart. He made a beautiful touchdown throw on a fade to true freshman WR Brian Wesco and also had a 95-yard TD run. Pearman completed 4 straight passes on that drive, including a tremendous catch by Adam Randall.
Also, true freshman LB Sammy Brown lived up to his 5-star hype, starting with a sack on his very first play in Death Valley! Jamal Anderson, the "Dirty Bird" had a pick-six for Orange. He made a big play in last year's spring game as a true freshman, deflecting a pass that was intercepted. The defense on both sides was fairly dominant, but there were several offensive starters out, including Mafah, Briningstool, Tyler Brown and Cole Turner.
I'll have more in a bit. In the meantime, post-game interviews are below!
