NO.4 CLEMSON RALLIES FOR 8-7 WALK-OFF WIN OVER LOUISVILLE IN ACC TOURNAMENT

In terms of the ACC Tournament, Friday's game between Clemson and Louisville was meaningless because Miami had already advanced out of the pool to the semifinal by virtue of beating both the Tiger and the Cardinals. But don't tell the Tigers it was a meaningless game! Jimmy Obertop's 3-run HR in the 8th inning tied the game 7-7, and the next inning Obertop drew a bases-loaded walk with one out to win the game 8-7. Ironically, that was the same score by which the Tigers lost to the Canes the day before.
Obertop, a grad transfer who Bakich recruited to Michigan, may have saved the Tigers' top-8 national seed in the NCAA Tournament! If the Tigers had gone 0-2 to unranked teams in the ACC Tournament, there's about a 50/50 chance they would have dropped out of the top 8. However, I feel confident that they will be safely in the top 8 for the second straight year with this comeback win. It was a fitting way for the Tigers to finish ACC play because that's what they've done all season. In fact, it was their 24th comeback win of the season.
The Tigers will be announced as one of the sixteen regional hosts on Sunday night, and they will find out their seeding and regional opponents on Monday at noon on ESPN2. I will be at Doug Kingsmore to bring you live coverage of that and interviews.
