CLEMSON DRAWS NO.6 NATIONAL SEED IN NCAA TOURNAMENT; WILL HOST VANDY AGAIN IN REGIONAL

CLEMSON, SC - The Tigers will be making their 46th appearance in the NCAA Tournament this weekend, which is 5th all-time. They were wearing their Olive Drab shirts for Memorial Day this morning as they gathered in the team room to watch the NCAA Selection Show. As expected, they will be a top-8 national seed for the second straight year under Erik Bakich, drawing the No.6 overall seed! That, of course, means the Tigers will have home field until Omaha.
Tennessee, which ended the Tigers' 17-game win streak with a 14-inning win in the Clemson Regional last year, is the No.1 overall seed as expected after winning the SEC Tournament. That's been a curse for 25 years now, though. The last time the No.1 seed won the national championship was Miami in 1999! Kentucky is No.2, A&M No.3, UNC No.4, Arkansas No.5, UGA No.7 and FSU No.8. Georgia can thank Clemson for that 14-inning win in Athens! That got them into the top 8.
Not surprisingly, Vandy will be in the regional here for the 3rd time in recent years. I actually predicted it would be the Gamecocks or Vandy. The committee is so predictable that way. They love the storyline of Corbin returning to Clemson and also want to see a rematch of the 2019 National Championship between the two former Clemson coach mates! Corbin and Vandy, of course, knocked Monte Lee and the Tigers out of their own regional here in 2017 and 2018 before beating Bakich and Michigan for the natty in 2019.
Coastal Carolina and High Point are the other two teams here. Obviously, a lot of familiarity with Coastal, but both games scheduled with them this season were canceled.
Oh, and by the way, the winner of the Clemson Regional will paly the winner of the Stillwater, OK Regional in the Super. If the Tigers advance, they will likely host Oklahoma State, which is the team that knocked Monte Lee and the Tigers out of the regional here in 2016, the year before Vandy.
OR it would be even sexier if Florida wins the Stillwater Regional! That would mean Bakich would have to go through his two former coach mates at Clemson under Leggett--Corbin and Sully--to get to Omaha! Lol if that happens, what a perfect script for the Tigers to finally win that elusive first natty.
First things first! The Tigers must beat High Point on Friday. That game will begin at 7:00 on ACCN. I'll have interviews posted shortly!
