GREENVILLE, SC - The Tigers' offense started slowly, perhaps emotionally hungover from their sweep of the Gamecocks over the weekend, but they broke through with a 3-run HR by Jarrell in the 5th. His second homer of the season gave them a 3-0 lead. Upstate had a chance to take the lead, though, in the 8th when they loaded the bases with 2 outs. Titsworth, who got the save here in Greenville on Saturday against the Gamecocks, came in from the pen and got a big strikeout to strand them loaded. The Tigers decided to add some insurance immediately after that in the top of the 9th, with homers by Paino, Bissetta and Ciufo, all with no outs! I said on Sunday night in Columbia that I hoped Paino and Ciufo could get right this week against Upstate or PC because they were both mired in slumps. Paino struck out 5 straight times between Saturday and Sunday and hadn't hit safely since the Winthrop game. Ciufo hadn't hit safely since 2/22, but they both homered tonight, and Paino added a double as well!
BJ Bailey, who grew up right around the corner in Woodruff, did an excellent job in relief, coming in for McGovern with one out in the 2nd.
The Tigers improve to 11-1 on the season and host PC on Wednesday. Post-game interviews are below!
