CLEMSON, SC - The last time the Tigers met Morehead State, the Tigers were upset in Littlejohn as a No.1 seed in the NIT Tournament three years ago. I remember covering that game like it was yesterday! RJ Godfrey told me that he had this game circled because he was a freshman on that team, and he felt terrible for his mentor, Hunter Tyson, to end his Clemson career that way.
Well, RJ and the Tigers came out swinging, as if they all had chips on their shoulders, and went into halftime with a 39-20 lead en route to another blowout win. They have outscored their first 3 opponents by 115 points! RJ posted a double-double, and transfer Jake Wahlin was 4-6 from the arc. They have just 14 turnovers in their first 3 games and had 19 assists tonight.
I love what I've seen from this almost entirely new team after three games, and it seems as if they've bonded extraordinarily well in a short time. The Tigers haven't faced any adversity yet this season, but we'll likely find out what they're made of on Saturday, as they have their first road test at Georgetown.
