CLEMSON, SC - The Tigers were coming off an ugly comeback win over Mercer and appeared much more focused on Tuesday in front of a nice holiday crowd in Littlejohn. Unfortunately, it might have been somewhat of a pyrrhic victory for the Tigers because talented freshman guard Zac Foster limped off the court early in the game after a fast break. Brownell told me after the game that it was his knee, and he will have an MRI on Wednesday. The good news is that fellow freshman Ace Buckner had the best game in his young career, scoring 19 points, including the last two free throws to seal the game. He was outstanding driving to the basket and finishing at the rim. As an undergrad, I watched his dad do the same thing many a time in Littlejohn! I wonder what was going through the head of Assistant Coach Terrell McIntyre as he watched the son of his former teammate from the bench.
Carter Welling also had a great game, except at the free throw line, where he was 5-13. He was a 73 percent free throw shooter coming into the game, so hopefully that was just an aberration rather than a harbinger of things to come!
The Tigers improve to 9-3 and will face Cincinnati in Greenville next. Post-game interviews and highlights are below!
