We just wrapped up our weekly Wednesday post-practice interview with Dabo, and he said he won't be giving us injury updates anymore unless it's something serious or long term, so I guess I won't be giving you a Jordan Williams update after all. That is a new rule that they are not required to provide injury reports before games. However, I would be surprised to see Williams on the field Saturday night. The team is in good shape otherwise.
I told Dabo that the practice fields sounded like Midnight Yell Practice at A&M! We were waiting for about 45 minutes for practice to finish, and we could hear the Aggie War Hymn being blasted over and over. The Tigers are doing what they can to prepare themselves for what they'll hear on Saturday night.
Dabo said the team had a great focus and intensity today. I asked him about Amari Rodgers having those couple good punt returns under his belt in the opener. That has to make Dabo feel comfortable with Amari fielding punts on the big stage this week. Dabo said he's been very consistent in practice, but you can't simulate the environment and pressure he'll be in on Saturday night. Renfrow has always been very sure-handed on punt returns, and he will be the next guy up, but he doesn't have the same explosiveness that Amari exhibited in the opener. The Tigers were nearly flawless in special teams and were plus two in the turnover margin, so that has to make Dabo feel optimistic as well. So often these big road games come down to special teams and turnovers.
Dabo spoke about a few other topics, and the full video is below! Don't forget to check back Friday for the What We Are Hearing preview and prediction!
