Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins and Mitch Hyatt--all of whom turned down the NFL Draft to return to Clemson--were named First-Team AP All-Americans on Monday. Travis Etienne made second team and was named First-Team All-American by Sporting News and ESPN. Etienne leads the Power Five in touchdowns and is just one short of the national lead. He is 4th in the Power Five in yards per carry, and his teammate, true freshman Lyn-J Dixon, leads the nation. Ferrell was also made first-team for Sporting News and the Walter Camp Foundation. Hyatt made first-team for the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and Walter Camp. Wilkins has made first-team for all four of the major outlets so far and will be a Unanimous First-Team All-American if he is named first-team by the American Football Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Clemson was the only team with three AP first-teamers and was second to Alabama's 4 selections. Wilkins is the first Clemson player to be named first-team All-American by at least one major publication in 3 different seasons. Ferrell is the second Clemson player ever (Terry Kinard) to be named AP First-Team All-American twice. The Tigers' opponent in the College Football Playoff, Notre Dame, produced one first-team selection in corner Julian Love. The Irish had 3 players selected overall. No.2 Clemson and No.3 Notre Dame will square off at the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas at 4:00 ET on December 29th.
The entire 2018 AP All-American team is below.
