CLEMSON, SC - It was another great outing for freshman Keyshawn Askew, who picked up his second win of the season. He allowed just one base runner in 5 innings, and it should have been an error but was scored an infield hit.
The Tigers exploded for 7 runs in the 6th, when freshman James Parker hit his first career HR and Bryce Teodosio hit his team-leading 3rd HR of the season. Teodosio was just a triple shy of becoming the first Clemson player to bat for the cycle. 6 Tigers have 2 HR's already, and the Tigers have 17 HR's by 10 different players this season, now tied with the Gamecocks for the Power Five HR lead, just one behind New Mexico State for the national lead. The Tigers came into the game tied for 2nd in the Power Five in K's, steals and HR's.
The Tigers improved to 7-1 on the season with their 5th straight win and will play arch-rival South Carolina this weekend for the Palmetto Series! The Tigers have several freshman playing key roles this season, and they will be experiencing the greatest rivalry in college baseball for the first time! I asked Davis Sharpe tonight if he knew if he would both hit and pitch on Saturday in Greenville, and Logan Davidson answered the question for him: a resounding "YES!" Monte Lee has won all 3 of his Palmetto Series as Clemson Head Coach. The Tigers host on Friday with games in Greenville Saturday and Columbia Sunday. As always, I'll have live coverage of all 3 games right here!
Post-game interviews with Monte Lee, Brooks Crawford, Keyshawn Askew, Logan Davidson and Davis Sharpe are below.
