COLUMBIA, SC - For the second straight night, the Tigers came close to their first shutout of the season. However, a double steal by the Cougars with 2 outs in the 3rd was the difference this time. The Tigers got the runner at 1st in a run down but not before the runner on 3rd scored. It was pitching by committee tonight, with 6 different pitchers combining for the one run and 7 hits. Marr picked up his first win of the season out of the pen, and Spiers got his 6th save. Davis Sharpe reached base 3 times.
The Tigers also successfully executed some small ball in the 9th when Teo, who was unable to get the crucial bunt down in the 9th against Notre Dame on Sunday, led off the inning with a bunt single. Greene bunted him over to 2nd, and he reached 3rd on a wild pitch. Hall was unable to get the sac fly after a shallow fly to left, but Davidson came through with a 2-out RBI single to give us the 4-1 final score.
Post-game interviews with Monte, Sharpe and Majkowski are below. Sorry if it's tough to hear. They were blaring music and making announcements over the PA for some reason the entire time we were trying to interview!
