Dabo told us last night that there weren't any major injuries, but we have learned that Amari Rodgers suffered a knee injury in practice yesterday and will likely miss the Orange and White Game in a couple weeks, maybe more. I'll have more on the extent of the injury to come.
The Tigers are obviously loaded at wide receiver and deeper there than any other position, but Rodgers was a big part of the Tigers' success last season both at receiver and in the punt return game. Sophomore Derion Kendrick will see the most increased reps as a result of the injury. Kendrick has been playing at corner some recently due to the absence of Kyler McMichael and Mario Goodrich, who are both back at practice now.
WEDNESDAY UPDATE: I have confirmed that it is a torn ACL. Amari's dad, Tee Martin, is back home on the Tennessee coaching staff, so I'm sure that is a great comfort to Amari. Tee had been on the west coast on the USC staff for the last several years until recently.
Dabo on the injury:
“Amari injured his right knee in practice on Monday and will have surgery next week. He’s got a great attitude and he’s a grinder. I have no doubt he’ll come back better than ever.”
