NO.13 CLEMSON SWEPT FOR FIRST TIME BY MIKE MARTIN, FSU IN TALLAHASSEE

The Tigers' pitching was horrendous all weekend, and the hitting wasn’t much better. Clemson pitchers gave up 11 free passes on Sunday and 29 for the weekend as the Tigers were swept for the first time of the season by an FSU team that had lost 5 of 6 coming in. Tiger hitters struck out a season-high 19 times in the 6-4 loss on Sunday. Combine that with the 11 walks they gave FSU, and it’s amazing that they had a chance to tie with Davidson at the plate in the 9th.
Mike Martin, who set the all-time NCAA win record at Clemson last year despite losing the series, will apparently have the last laugh against his longtime ACC nemesis. He is retiring at the end of the season, so unless the Tigers and Noles meet in the post-season, he will go out with a season sweep of Clemson.
Adding insult to injury, Louisville swept NC State this weekend, so if the Tigers had won this series, they’d be in 1st place in the ACC standings. Instead, they fall to 11-7. Not a good way to go into a Tuesday road game at No.4 UGA!
